A strum of a guitar. A clash of drums that rings in your ears. A melodic transition on a piano that makes you cry. Music inspires and triggers all kinds of emotions in us. I walk around with headphones on or in. I have more playlists than I can count, and I listen to them constantly. I have a record collection that I sometimes play on my beautiful record player, just in case I need that wonderful scratch in the song. My dad has a beautiful jukebox in the family room. I spent many happy hours with my back against it, listening to anything and everything that played.
God created music. He created it to be enjoyed, and so that he could enjoy. He requests us to sing to him, and it traces back so far in history that the secular world cannot trace it. We can, however, trace it all the way to Jubal. Since that time, people have found joy out of playing and listening to music. The music industry, however, is changing rapidly.
When avoiding explicit and un-Christian songs, it’s impossible to just play music. And I doubt that the majority of Christian music on the market would appeal to our Lord greatly. At least I know it doesn’t appeal to me. Few songs can I stand long enough to get through the entire recording before turning it off. Taking exception to Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, and a few other artists, I find the Christian music market lacking on the whole. So, as music lovers, we are given two choices. We can either enjoy music that is not necesarily Christian, or we can listen with what we are given on the Christian market, whether it appeals to our musical taste or not.
As a beginner guitarist and a devoted music lover, I have to shuffle between several options, that results in a kinda crazy mix of everything I can. In this section, I will share my stories and adventures of my music life. I hope that you enjoy my suggestions, and share your own (especially Christian music, as I am always looking for more music that glorifies God). I believe that music is one of the greatest joys we can take in our daily lives.
God bless you,
-A Christian Girl

‘Cause you know without a doubt, you can change your world with love. So says Michael W. Smith in his awesome song, Love One Another. This statement is actually very true, and is inspiring for all Christians. This amazingly popular song, and this wonderful lyric specifically proved to be influential, becoming the namesake to not […]
My fingers are sore. Sorry, that’s probably not the greatest way to start a blog post. The picture above is of my guitar. It’s a great guitar, and probably not that great of a picture, but I’m not the photographer. That’s my brother. I just fool around with pictures for fun. If you’re interested in […]
I was recently listening to some Michael W. Smith music (my latest musical interest), and I ran across this song called ‘Place in This World’. It’s a really good song (and I’ve already probably listened to it a few dozen times), and it starts off, “The wind is moving, but I am standing still. A […]
